Kids and Teen Events at Quail Ridge Books

February 14, 2019–Today’s first featured events are our Kids and Teen events at Quail Ridge Books on Saturday, February 23rd.

At 10:30am, there will be a special storytime with North Carolina author-illustrator JONATHAN VOSS!

“Meet Olive and her best friend, Hoot. Olive loves book-based adventures, but is she brave enough to join Hoot on some real-life adventures? Ages 4+
Reading and drawing and a possible preview of his next Hoot and Olive book, Imagine That!”

At 2pm, join us for stories and drawings with Paul Tillery IV, the author and Thundercluck!

“Cancel your dinner plans and dig in to Thundercluck! by Paul Tillery IV and Meg Wittwer. This is the first book in a hilarious new series stuffed with Norse mythology, black-and-white illustrations by the dozen, and a superhero chicken ready to ruffle some feathers. When danger calls . . . BAGAW! calls back! An evil chef faces off against the god Thor, and a hen’s egg is caught in the crossfire. It hatches into a powerful chick called Thundercluck, beloved by the gods but a target for evildoers everywhere. When the Under-Cook threatens to make everyone into rotisserie, there’s only one chicken who can scramble his scheme.

Thundercluck! Half mortal. Half god. All-natural chicken.”

At 4:30pm, we have songs and books!  A perfect combination for a fun afternoon of music and singing. Join Jean Marie Whaley for kid-friendly music with others! Ages 6 months and up.

Finally, at 6pm, join us for a Q&A with local authors!

Brenda Rufener is the author of Where I Live. If Linden Rose can follow the rules, no one will ever discover that she is the “homeless girl hiding in front of them.”

Kati Gardner is the author of Brave Enough. Spoiler alert: No one with cancer dies in this story. They do play Uno, shave their head, get stabbed, make new friends, enjoy glitter, attend camp, get kissed (!), and above all else, discover they are brave enough to continue living life.

Kwame Mbala is the author of the upcoming middle grade fantasy Tristan Strong Punches A Hole In The Sky. A seventh-grade boy accidentally creates a hole into the Midpass, a world where ancient African gods clash with gods of African-American legend. He must race to find Anansi, the Weaver, and repair the rip before the iron monsters wreaking havoc in the Midpass consume their world and ours.

We hope to see you there!
